What better season to invite you to a book party? The Irish American Heritage Center is hosting authors Jim and Jay Padar at a book launch for their new book, On Being a Cop (Aviva Publishing). The father and son team will read from the book and sign copies this December at the IAHC 2nd floor Library. Books will be available for $20.00 (tax included).

Jim Padar is a retired Chicago Police officer, having spent some 34 years working for the city. Much of that time was spent as a homicide detective. Son Jay is a Sergeant with the Chicago Police Department.

In this collection of short stories, all based upon actual incidents, readers ride with father and son as they experience the unparalleled variety of police work in the City of Chicago with moments of humor, loss and profound tragedy.

Admission is free for this event. Beer, wine and light refreshments will be available. Free off-street parking is available and this venue is handicapped accessible by entering from the North parking lot.

Join the authors for a drink afterwards at the Fifth Province Irish Pub and Restaurant located on the 1st floor.

A portion of the book’s proceeds will be donated to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and Police Chaplains Ministry.
